2020 Habitat News
2023 Accomplishment
Food Plots: Till, seed (corn & sorghum), and fertilize about 12 acres of food plots at WMA’s.
Land Acquisition: With the generous donation by the Doc French Family, this region has added a new 147acre Wildlife Management Area, Lleif’s Land. In addition to this parcel, we are hoping to work with the family to acquire more of the surrounding property to make this wildlife area even better. We are continually looking for land to be purchased, especially in close proximity or connected to existing Wildlife Management Area. If you are aware of anyone that may be interested in selling or donating land for this purpose, please let us know.
Habitat Work Days: With the addition of Lleif’s Land, we spent our Habitat Work Days in Chatfield pulling fence and barbed wire from this property. During two different events we were able to get about half done with the 3,000ft of fence. We had dozens of volunteers, contributing close to 100hrs of labor. Thank you to those who participated, always a great time.
2024 Plans Thus Far
Food Plots: Till, seed (corn & sorghum), and fertilize about 12 acres of food plots at WMA’s.
Land Management: We have planned an educational event to help land owners learn about habitat creation, management options within the CRP program, and to transition land to public holdings. If you, or some one you know, is interested in this programs please consider attending. Event will be 8:30am on Wednesday March 27th at Oxbow Nature Center. More information listed in your banquet book.
Habitat Work Days: We will continue to work on the 3,000ft fence at Lleif’s Land until it is complete. Please stay tuned for details and consider volunteering to help improve local habitat. During these events TriCounty PF will provide food, beverages, and fellowship. Chapter email will be sent out prior to each event as a reminder and will include more details. Much of the work getting done during these events are small scale cleanups or improvements of local public lands. All ages encouraged to attend.
